I enjoy revealing the beauty found within each piece of wood through the art of woodturning.

About Michael:

Beginning with helping his father and grandfather with woodworking and other home improvement projects, Michael developed a love for making things at an early age.  This passion was rekindled during a furniture making project while studying architecture in college.  Once the school acquired a lathe, Michael dabbled in making pens in his free time but gave the hobby up upon graduation.  After a long hiatus, Michael acquired a lathe in September 2014 and began turning bowls, platters, hollow forms and of course, pens.

 

Michael is currently a member of the American Association of Woodturners, Mid Maryland Woodturners, and Catoctin Area Turners.  Michael has studied with renowned woodturners including Jimmy Clewes, Rudy Lopez, Jamie Donaldson, Mike Sorge, and Tom Wirsing.

About The Wood:

Whenever possible, regional species are obtained from trees downed due to disease or storms and from tree trimming services.
